The church responds in our time of loss...

April 29, 2008

On Sunday morning, hubby was feeling discouraged because we’d had so little contact from the Abundant Life folks ("our church"), and for a long time he has wanted to check out Bethel Pentecostal. So we went there. ___ were there and greeted us, also a lady from the Pentecostal church in our former community, and ___, one of my fellow school-teachers, and her family. Lots of other people but a “big” church so we didn’t really get noticed. It was so quiet, “traditional,” dress-up, special numbers, etc… not “our kind” of church I’m afraid… a lot of really older folks… really quite formal…

Anyway in the afternoon some Abundant Life folks came over after all and brought leftovers from the church potluck, and ____ went into the kitchen and made tea for everyone… that was nice, so hubby said maybe they care about us after all – Of course they do, they just aren’t Haida culture! After, ___ called and later ___ came by with roses! I had a wonderful time with her… I often feel we are kindred spirits… if only we weren’t both so “busy” …. ___ also called, and had sent an email earlier. And everybody at Abundant Life had prayed for us at their morning service
